The President of Blackball International, Mr Martin Kirwan, and the Secretary, Ms Margarite Lopez, have resigned from their respective positions.
In view of the above, I have been appointed as the President of BI. It is unfortunate that, at this late stage, the 2018 World Blackball Championships have not been organised, as yet. However, please be assured that there will be a World Championship this year, despite the severe time constraints. Currently, I am working tirelessly with the remaining two BI Board Members and the Leadership of the EBA to salvage the situation. We are working under very difficult circumstances and hence may not be able to acquire a venue of our choice. We would use whatever is accessible to BI. So, please bear with us.
We are now entering a new era and I want to assure you that, in future, we would plan and prepare this prestigious event well in advance so that we put up a great show that is worthy of the status of a World event. Currently, we are negotiating events outside Europe and are looking ahead at the next four years. The 2020 WBC will take place in South Africa and there is a possibility that the 2022 WBC will be held in Australia. An announcement of the 2018 World Blackball Championships will be made very shortly.
I look forward to your co-operation and hope to work closely with all continents so that we work together as one cohesive unit to propel Blackball forward.
Many thanks and all the best.
